WEDNESDAY MUSINGS 7/3

Whew, Dark Tuesday sure proved to live up to its name. Brutal as it was, we powered through it and are ready to attack today. It’s going to feel a bit like Friday, with everyone excited and yapping about their 4th of July plans tomorrow, so if you sense an opportunity to pounce on anything, go for it. Damn the torpedoes.

SONG OF THE DAY

A GIRL LIKE YOU – EDWYN COLLINS

Seems like a good buffer song to ease into today after a Dark Tuesday beat down. Released in 1994, this song got up to #32 on Billboard’s Hot 100, but made it all the way up to the No. 1 spot in Belgium, who knew? Start your day on the right foot, crank up the volume, and groove it.

BET OF THE DAY

DELAWARE PARK RACE 1: #5 AVANTE LIGHT

This is a Maiden Claiming $16,000 for 3 yo and up going 1 1/16 miles on the turf. We’re going with a longshot pick in a pretty uninspiring race. This 10 time maiden usually shows some good early speed but tends to wear down in the final stretch. We’ll see if he can get it all together today and make the 11th time the charm. Click here for free PPs, good luck.

PETROS QUOTE OF THE DAY

I’ve been in a situation where I’ve drank too much cold brew and ended up in the emergency room with a panic attack.

DRINK OF THE WEEK

2018 HONIG SAUVIGNON BLANC

ORC in-house wine expert Mikey was kind enough to taste test this sauv and send us this review:

Honig Winery is a family run winery whose first commercial vintage dates from 1984. Patriarch Louis Honig ran a successful advertising business in San Francisco when he decided to buy land in the Napa Valley. He purchased 68 acres here in 1964.

2018 Honig Sauvignon Blanc: Clean, fresh, lively come to ind with taking in the aromatics of this wine and they do not disappoint on the palate either. Honeydew, peach, and pear all come into play here with some nice acidity for those hot pool days at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs. Alcohol is 13.9% so definitely can throw a few back. Sit back and enjoy the sunset with this wine. 8.3 out of 10 rating. -Mike
