“A BLUNT SOLUTION TO CREATING A UNIFIED VOICE IN HORSE RACING”

There are too many cooks in the kitchen when it comes to creating one unified voice for the industry. Every faction is dog-piling over each other to get the best seat in the house. Racetracks gripe, trainers gripe, breeders gripe, everyone gripes and yet nothing seems to happen in a time when action is of paramount importance.

Follow the money. Only two groups are responsible for paying all of the bills: the horse owners and the bettors. Without either one of those, the industry crumbles overnight. They should get priority over all others in the sport. Everyone else is very important but replaceable in the grand scheme of things, to put it bluntly.

Create a nationwide alliance of owners and bettors and let them make the rules and create a good product for everyone else to enjoy. If you’re a racetrack, write good races for the owners and offer attractive wagering platforms for the bettors.

Keep this alliance satisfied — or at least don’t make it more difficult for them to keep paying the bills — and everything else falls into place.
